Ep. 95 | The 2021 Boston Marathon Experience | How Did it Go???

October 12, 2021

The 2021 Boston Marathon is a wrap! This was the first-ever (and possibly only) fall Boston Marathon, and it was quite an experience! There were highs, there were lows, and everything in between. The weather was almost perfect, and the crowds did not disappoint. Find out why this was my SLOWEST marathon ever and what my favorite sign was along the racecourse :)

Ep. 94 | What is Your Victory Run?

October 7, 2021

I'm headed to Boston today to prepare for the Boston Marathon... a dream come true! This is deemed my victory run--and it's been years of waiting. Today I'll share what that means to me, what a victory run is, and how you can have your own victory run (no need to be a runner). If you're in waiting right now and just hoping that you'll come out the other side of your struggle, this episode is for you.

Ep. 93 | Letting Go of Toxic Relationships and Rising Again - It is Possible!

Ep. 93 | Letting Go of Toxic Relationships and Rising Again - It is Possible!

October 5, 2021

The story I’m sharing today is about a phoenix rising - Tina Krebs rose out of the ashes of her dark, toxic past and has flourished in a beautiful future. After getting up the courage to leave not just one, but two toxic relationships, she slowly picked up the pieces and put together a new life for her and her two children, one filled with renewal and hope and a new beginning.

This episode is not a light topic. We go pretty deep and heavy, and you may not want your children listening in on the topics we are covering. Tina has endured a very difficult past filled with lies, cheating, and abuse. It’s hard to tell the story without some of those details seeping in.

I hope her story encourages you to be brave and fight and stand up for what’s right. You never know when and if someone else will need you to stand by them.

Ep 92 | Trust in Transition - Heartfelt Chats

Ep 92 | Trust in Transition - Heartfelt Chats

September 30, 2021

We bought a house! What does it mean to trust while going through transition or change? What does it mean to trust while waiting for circumstances to turn around? Today I share a little about what trust has meant to me this past year as we encountered multiple trials and transitions. One thing I have realized is that waiting on God's timing is so worth it.

Ep. 91 | What Does Walking in Love and Justice Mean from a Biblical Standpoint?

Ep. 91 | What Does Walking in Love and Justice Mean from a Biblical Standpoint?

September 28, 2021

Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

What do we need to remember? The Bible is our standard, and it has outlasted time. We don’t get to pick and choose what we want to be true. We don’t get to change who God says we are just because we don’t feel like ourselves today. The Bible is our standard, and as Christians, we see things through that lens, that’s what a Biblical worldview is, and that is why it’s important for us to be in the Word, praying, journaling, studying, growing. If we are not solid in the Word of God, we could fall for anything.

So how do we take a stand on God’s Word in love, walking in love without changing our standards? How do you walk in love and justice from a Biblical perspective? What does this look like? What boundaries do we need to set up for ourselves? How do we not get walked all over yet continue to show love to others? How do we show love to the unloving?

These are questions of our day, and today is an encouraging conversation because I’m bringing on marriage and family therapist Jessica Hayes to help us navigate how to walk in love and justice without giving up our moral or Biblical standards.

Ep. 90 | Will Speaking Up Help? Why One Mom of Biracial Kids Decided to Get into the Fight Against the Current Educational System

Ep. 90 | Will Speaking Up Help? Why One Mom of Biracial Kids Decided to Get into the Fight Against the Current Educational System

September 21, 2021

Today we’re going to hear from a mom who recently spoke at her local school board meeting about the dangers of critical race theory. Lia McCabe has a unique perspective as a Latina parent of biracial special needs children who are being failed by the current educational system.

Lia has a Bachelor's in History and a Master's specialized in Human Factors Psychology. As a mother to special needs children, she is also the Founder of the autism charity initiative, AutismWish, whose goal is to grant wishes to children on the spectrum.

When she's not working diligently to help her community, Lia is an outspoken critical race theory opponent and activist with a passion for preserving civil discourse and diversity of thought.

WHAT YOU’LL HEAR:

  • Why Lia decided to speak up to the school board about the issues she has with the current system.
  • What life has been like raising bi-racial kids with the critical race narrative schools are trying to promote.
  • Why bringing back civil discourse and debate is a passion of Lia's and why it should matter to us.

Do I Need to Get Involved in My School Board - Ways to Have a Voice in the Community

Do I Need to Get Involved in My School Board - Ways to Have a Voice in the Community

September 15, 2021

Thad Riley, who just finished his term on a New Hampshire school board, is with me today talking about many of the issues he faced while serving his term (he’ll leave us with some encouragement). It is important for us to be a voice for our kids and the next generation.

After serving over a decade in retail management with tech companies, in July of 2015, Thad Riley became a stay-at-home dad. In 2017 he ran for and won a Seat on his town's school board in New Hampshire, and his term ended this past March. He also finished his term as the Chair of the Republicans in his town.

WHAT YOU’LL HEAR:

  • Issues members of the school board have faced over the past few years and why elections for the school board matter
  • How parents can get involved even if they don’t have the capacity to serve on the board (he actually breaks this down into how we can make it about a 3-hour commitment per year)
  • Where to find the resources to know what is being talked about and voted on in the school board meetings

Part 2: What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church?

Part 2: What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church?

September 9, 2021

The church is falling for the social justice gospel. When you add anything to the gospel, you’re changing the gospel! Andrew Rappaport is back with me today for part 2 of our chat about critical race theory and how it’s affecting the church.

Andrew Rappaport is the preaching pastor of Grace & Truth Bible Church in Bucks County, PA, and founder and executive director of Striving for Eternity Ministries and the Christian Podcast Community.

If you haven’t listened to part 1, make sure to go back and listen to that one first. We’ve been having a really great discussion so far, and I don’t feel like I need to have a long introduction, so let’s finish this one up by talking about the dangers of critical race theory in the church and what we can do about it.

Part 1: What is Critical Race Theory? Cultural Views of CRT

Part 1: What is Critical Race Theory? Cultural Views of CRT

September 7, 2021

Today is a hot topic for many, and I know it’s controversial in nature, but it needs to be talked about because it’s affecting our kids and the generations to come. Why? Because it’s seeping sneakily (and not-so-sneakily into our schools). Critical race theory.

What is critical race theory? It is the ideology that is behind most of the diversity and inclusivity training in school and the workplace, and these trainings are actually counterproductive because they’re leading to more bias and fear. It is a lens through which to see the world (a worldview) - it shapes how you view politics, theology, and education.

Critical theory sees everything as the oppressed versus the oppressor. It is deconstructing those constructs until they get down to fitting into this worldview of the oppressed versus the oppressor.

Why does this matter? What’s the big deal if our kids are being taught it in schools? Isn’t inclusiveness and diversity training a good thing? That’s exactly what I have Andrew Rappaport on with me to talk about today. The language in our culture is changing, and we need to be aware of what the truth is behind it all.

Andrew is the preaching pastor of Grace & Truth Bible Church in Bucks County, PA, and founder and executive director of Striving for Eternity Ministries and the Christian Podcast Community.

Why Advocating for Your Children Matters

Why Advocating for Your Children Matters

August 31, 2021

As our children’s parents and protectors, we need to be their largest advocate as well. In a world where society thinks it knows what’s best for our children, how do we do this? How do we fight for them and their needs, and why do we need to? Personally, what does it mean to advocate for my children? How do I become my child’s best advocate?

These are questions Julie Jones will help us answer today as we dive into how to advocate for our children and why advocating for your children actually matters.

As a mother of two daughters with hearing loss, Julie knew her journey was going to be a different one. Julie has 26 years of experience raising two daughters with hearing impairment and seeing them grow into happy, productive adults.
