Hey Winner,
Have you asked yourself what your purpose is or how in the world you can connect with it on a deeper level? Do you wonder what it would be like if you found that purpose and actually stepped into it? What if you stepped out of your comfort zone into that purpose and allowed God to work in you and through you? What would that look like? What difference could that make in your life and in going after your goals?
If you’ve asked any of these things or are just wondering what on earth are you here for, then this episode is for you. My friend Kate House and I dig deep into how you can connect more deeply with your purpose and what this would mean for the trajectory of your life!
Her purpose in life is to help others release personal-growth overwhelm, get unstuck, and finally take the action to launch themselves into the direction of their dreams. She wants you to live by design, not by default.
I thought she’d be the perfect person to join us today to talk about connecting deeper with your purpose. Can’t wait for you to hear our conversation, so let’s step into the fire with Kate!

Hey Winner,
Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed by the goals you set for yourself this year? All the things you wanted to do? Is life taking its toll, and you're ready to throw in the towel?
So how do we stick to our goals when the excitement wears off?
It’s actually quite similar to how you feel during a marathon. The starting line is like January. You’re starting fresh, and you’re excited. So much excitement surrounds the start line. The adrenaline is kicking in, and the endorphins are kicking in. It’s a new adventure, and we feel great the first quarter or so of the race, about 7-9 miles in.
There really haven’t been any major bumps in the road yet. You haven’t hit any walls yet, and it’s all about just going out there and doing it! We feel invincible and that there’s really nothing to it.
However, we do hit barriers along the way, many mental, that try to take us off track. The further we get in, the easier it is to quit, or at least have feelings of doing so.
The excitement will wear off and it’s good to be prepared for it or at the very least, know what to do when it happens to you.

Hey Winner!
Do you ever feel lonely as you go through motherhood? I know I’ve had my seasons of feeling lonely. It’s taken time to find my tribe of women – you know, the ones that will build you up and encourage you when you need it, give you tough love when you’re being a bit stubborn, or party it up with you and create some fun!
Finding community is vital as you walk through motherhood so you don’t have to do it alone! Don’t try and be a martyr and do it all and be all for everyone without having a support system helping you out!
But how do we do it? Our schedules are already packed full, how can we even make time to find our tribe – the friends we can do life with and a mentor to help guide us?
Today I’m bringing on my friend Alicia Cohen to share more about 3 important things you need to take into consideration as you find your community.
Let’s dive in and chat about syncing your season in regard to finding your tribe!

Ep 155 | Why breaking routine COULD be good for you :)
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
Hey Winner,
For a while there (a long while), I was setting my alarm for 5 a.m. so I could get up before everyone and start my rigid morning routine. I would do my quiet time in the Word, journal, and then work on my podcast or write until around 6:30 a.m. when I did a short strength workout before my morning run.
Why 5 a.m.?
It was quiet in my house, and activities start at 7 a.m. with my oldest son going to gymnastics practice. If I wanted to get my time in, it had to be then. If I missed a day because I was tired or whatever else, I felt unaccomplished and unproductive. That early morning time really was the main chunk of my day I could dedicate to my writing, after all.
But...
Routines can become stale, especially if they're rigid. I've been going from 5 a.m. straight through the day without breaks or downtime to break it up. And I burned out HARD!
Today I'm going to share with you what I'm doing and why you may want to break a routine you have - it could be good for you :)

Hey Winner!
As you may have heard my story, I have struggled with depression in my early adult years and still face the battle to keep my victory. If you don’t know my story, you can hear it in episode 130.
But, one thing I have learned is that just because I struggle with mental health doesn’t mean it gives me an out to what God has called me to. He WILL equip me to follow the path He’s planned, and He’ll do the same for you.
My friend Carla is joining me today to talk about how to walk in purpose and thrive in life even if you face a daily struggle with mental illness. One thing she learned is that she needed to grieve the idea of what she thought her life would be like and accept the way she is to find a way to thrive.
We are not limitless (if we were, we wouldn’t need God, would we?). She shares more about how she accepted her limitations and what that meant for her own success.

Ep 153 | What Does Progress Look Like? How to Discover Your Own ”Victory Run”
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
Hey Winner,
When you’re going through obstacles alongside your growth journey, I encourage you to keep a journal. Write down the things that are going on. It doesn’t have to be done every day, but when you have an AHA moment or a breakthrough, or when you come across another obstacle, write those circumstances or lessons down. Document them so you can go back and look at them. When you overcome a trial, note the struggle and how you found victory in it.
I promise you, you’re not going to remember all the details and feelings of your journey when you look back on it if you haven’t kept a record of it. It’s important to know where we came from and how we got to where we are now. When we do this, we can help others overcome similar obstacles in their lives and bring them along with us. I kept a journal throughout my entire injury (as you'll see throughout my book when you read it).
In one of my journal entries on March of 2019, I wrote about a follow-up appointment I had with my orthopedic surgeon. On the way to the appointment, I thought for sure he was going to keep me in a boot longer (partly because it took me forever to try walking in the boot). But, you know what? He moved me to a brace to help me stabilize and said he wanted me to start weaning off that, too, as soon as I was ready!
This was progress, and I didn’t remember it until I read it in my journal. Now, looking back on my journal entries, I can see that I made leaps of progress. Had I not written it down, I may not have been able to identify that progress as easily. That’s the power of documenting our struggles and victories.
So what does progress look like, and how do we get going again? These are questions we're going to answer in this episode, so stay tuned!

Hey Winner,
I can still do hard things... SO CAN YOU!
We had quite the adventure hiking Pikes Peak on Saturday! This was my first 14er (and it's totally like a marathon, in the last couple of miles you think you'll never do it again -- today I'm thinking about when my next one will be)...
Today, let's talk about getting mentally tough when we step out into a challenge.

Hey Winner!
It seems strange that, in order for your muscles to get stronger, you need to essentially tear them first. In order to get stronger, that’s exactly what we do each strength training session. We perform our bicep curls and leg lifts in order to create micro-tears in our muscles so that they recover stronger. Over time, as long as you’re working it right, these micro-tears will work together to create a greater muscle mass. You have to break down your muscles so they can grow stronger.
We can adopt a similar concept through our challenges. Each challenge is like a micro-tear; it can feel painful in the moment, but as we recover, if we allow that micro-tear (or pain) to heal properly, our challenge will make us stronger.
Airplanes fly because of the friction in the wingspan. The difference in the pressure above and below the wing creates a force on each that lifts the wing up into the air and allows the plane to fly.
It is curious how a bee is even able to fly, considering its makeup, but it can. A bee’s wings are not rigid; they twist and rotate during flight. The short, quick, and sweeping motions from front to back are what create enough lift to make it possible. Bees need resistance in order to fly.
Just as muscles need to tear to get stronger, and airplanes need friction in order to fly, and bees need resistance to get into flight, we also can’t have victory without a struggle. We grow through the challenges we endure.

Ep 150 | Crushing Barriers With a 50-Mile Race - Interview with Jenn Whynot
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
Hey Winner!
What happens when you hit a dream come true and have worked so hard toward that goal for so long? I know I’ve experienced a sense of feeling lost or lacking control in those seasons, and sometimes it’s hard knowing what to do once you hit a goal. You hit the summit, so what’s next?
My guest today, Jennifer Whynot, had this experience after accomplishing a massive goal of qualifying for and running the 2021 Boston Marathon. It was so fun to get to meet her in person along with some other mother runners I’ve met on this podcasting journey, and she is the epitome of toughness. The trials she’s faced through achieving the goal, and before and after running Boston are insurmountable. But that didn’t stop her from setting a new burly goal – running a 50 miler!
Her latest experience led her to learn how to create new goals, find mindfulness in running, and break routines to experience more. Today we are talking about all of it!
